The Mountain Counties Water Resources Association (MCWRA) invites General Managers and senior staff from our member agencies to join us for the next MCWRA Regional Roundtable Luncheon on Thursday, August 13, in El Dorado County.

These invitation-focused gatherings bring together regional water leaders for focused conversations on the most pressing issues facing Sierra Nevada water agencies, while also creating space for candid discussion, collaboration, and relationship-building among peers.

Each Roundtable features lunch and a focused presentation on an issue directly relevant to the operations, planning, and long-term sustainability of mountain water agencies.

Advanced Clean Fleets Regulations: Overview and Update

The August Regional Roundtable Luncheon will feature representatives from the California Air Resources Board (CARB), who will provide an overview and update on the Advanced Clean Fleets (ACF) regulations and their implications for public agency fleet operations.

The ACF regulations present unique implementation considerations for water agencies operating in rural and mountainous regions, where vehicles are often required to serve multiple operational and emergency-response functions, travel long distances, access remote and rugged terrain, and remain available during wildfires, winter storms, Public Safety Power Shutoffs, and other emergency conditions.

CARB staff will provide an overview of the regulations, discuss recent developments and implementation timelines, and answer questions from MCWRA member agencies.

This Roundtable will provide an important opportunity for MCWRA members to hear directly from CARB staff, better understand the regulatory landscape, discuss practical implementation challenges, and engage in a constructive dialogue about the realities of operating essential public-service fleets in the Sierra Nevada region.

The program will also include time for peer discussion among General Managers and senior agency staff on shared operational challenges, compliance planning, and other issues facing mountain water agencies.
